Here is another tool worth looking at for <a class="zem_slink" title="Image viewer" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_viewer">Image Viewer. Its called F-spot and the description for the same is as below :

F-Spot is an application designed to provide personal photo management to the GNOME desktop. Features include import, export, printing and advanced sorting and tagging of digital images.

First we will install the f-spot viewer.

On a side note there is a f-spot <a class="zem_slink" title="Screensaver" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screensaver">screensaver application also that you can try 🙂

Now once installed, open the application. There are basically two modes for the application, one is the file view and one is folder view. But that is something you  can explore on your own, what we will look at is the <a class="zem_slink" title="Exchangeable image file format" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exchangeable_image_file_format">EXIF data capabilities. So, press F9 or select side pane from View menu and you will see the side pane.

On the side pane as you can see, you can select Folder or Metadata. Select <a class="zem_slink" title="Metadata" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metadata">metadata to view the metadata and this is how thiw will look.

As can be seen, the metadata is visible in the side pane. Also you can see that the support for the metadata is much better and you can see both the EXIF and the <a class="zem_slink" title="IPTC Information Interchange Model" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPTC_Information_Interchange_Model">IPTC metadata. So, this definately this is one viewer that you can use to check your photos with metadata.
